in modern life.
It is now printed in almost all
languages and in all countries of the world. It gives us news of what is
happening in the world. Formerly newspapers contained only news. But now they
contain not only news but also views on various subjects. Thus, now, there are
various classes of papers. They can be classified according to the number of
times they appear in a year. Some are printed daily, some twice in a week, some
weekly, some fortnightly, and some monthly.

Government of the country. They generally make healthy criticisms of the
activities of the Government. They point out its mistakes and set it on the
right path. The importance of News Paper can never be denied. They serve as a link between the

Newspapers keeps us informed of what is taking
place around us. It tells us of political events, sensational events, etc. Even
the advertisements have their value. In these days a newspaper is
indispensable to life.
It is also good to remember that
the newspaper is a highly organized industry today. Reading newspaper is
of high importance and indispensable. A critical and independent readership
alone can bring the owner to heel, whenever necessary.
Disadvantages / Abuses of Newspaper
It has been said above that
newspapers wield much power and influence. Now, this power can be abused also.
In that case, it is capable of doing tremendous harm. It may spread communal
hatred and foment rebellion or revolt.
If newspapers are read in search of
sensationalism, it becomes a real evil in life. A good deal is often
misreported that leads to dangerous consequences. Newspapers are vehicles of
political parties, and neutral readers find it difficult to arrive at a
balanced judgment. The quick, critical intelligence of the readers, then,
is the only check against any ‘palpable’ or cloaked design.
Modern newspaper is a chronicle
and an encyclopedia in miniature. It records events that happen. It seeks not
only to inform but to interest, to stimulate, and to excite. For a busy man, is
hardly possible to read everything that it contains. One man is
interested in politics, another in sports.
But newspapers contain much that
is useless or even harmful. Newspapers have a trick of handling sensational
news that excites national passions. There is a part of the means to increase
circulation. They also help to decry or boost up political parties according to
the colour of the newspaper. Many News papers serve a particular interest and
give biased views.
Conclusion
Although it is said that news paper mislead people but the people should not be led away by false news or by the views of particular paper. Because all papers do not misguide people. They must read any reputed paper. They should exercise their own judgment and form their own opinion. A reader must be particularly on guard against this type of journalism. He must be critical and circumspect.

And this fact is also true that
each person a has different interest, but these are the matters of personal
preference. Generally, it is necessary for all alike to read the progress that
is being made from day to day in the affairs of our country and in the affairs
to the world. Reading newspaper makes a
man fit to participate usefully in a cultivated society.
It is necessary to have a basic
knowledge of history and geography, or political and economic theories. Unless
one knows the historical background or the geographical location of events
reported, they will convey little of value of importance. In short, one must bring
to the reading of newspapers an educated mind, an informed judgment, and an
essentially critical understanding if they are to serve any purpose other than
mere bazaar gossip.
