National Festival
Except religious
festivals, there are some national festivals also that are celebrated in India.
The festivals which are celebrated by the entire nation are called National
Festival. It is an occasion of fun, joy and pride for all Indians. Every Indian
celebrates national festivals with great joy and respect. Our national festivals
are as follows :-
Independence Day –
It is celebrated
on 15th August. We got independence from the British rules on this
day in the year 1947. On this day, the Prime Minister hoists the National Flag
at the Red Fort and addresses the nation.
Republic Day –
It is celebrated
on 26th January. India became a republic on this day. A big parade
is held at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi on this day. All the states of India
participate in this parade. It is attended by the President, the Prime
Minister, Chief guests and all important officials of the country.
Gandhi Jayanti –
It is celebrated
on the 2nd October. It is the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, one of the
greatest leader of India. He is also called ‘Bapu’ and ‘Father of the Nation’
because he did a lot for India’s freedom. People pay homage to him on this day.
