Passage - Bravery

Study the following passage.
Bravery
Bravery is generally defined in terms of physical feats. According to them bravery is the timely use of physical powers. But the fact is that bravery has not as much concern with physical strength as it has with spiritual one. In fact bravery is the power motivated by internal strength and mental spirit.
To save one’s life in the struggling conditions of the world can also be called bravery, but the high spirit of people’s welfare is inherent in bravery. We can say that to struggle against injustice is also bravery and showing courage to do a perilous job is also bravery. Sacrifice for the society and the nation is also bravery. A person who show unusual courage in a battle is not the only person to be called brave, but a person who makes laudable contribution in the field of karma, philanthropy and religion is also called brave. Persons who keep patience in difficult circumstances are the real brave.

Passage - Obedience

Study the following essay on obedience.
Obedience
Children, young men and old men all wish that others should do what they want them to do. Sometimes they say it politely with love, sometimes they say it with threats. This does not mean that they all issue orders. Only elders have the right to issue orders and not the younger ones. Why is it so? Why are the orders issued? What is the objective of issuing orders?
Elders, parents and teachers have not only the experience of life, but they also care for the younger ones. They want to make the younger once like fully baked pot. For this the raw pot has to be heated. We can call this process of heating as obedience. In fact obedience is the education in good manners and an art of making children mentally mature, which parents and teachers consider to be their basic duty. Therefor we should obey our parents and teachers without any hesitation. The logic behind this is that our parents and teachers can never think of our disadvantage. Even if we suffer due to obedience of their orders, we consider it as some mistake, carelessness or lack of expertise on their part and try to find some advantage in future out of our suffering. So in all eventualities we obey them. Obedience is that lesson in the school of life which brings knowledge to the ignorant and makes an idler a hard worker. Obedience is not learning, it is a step of learning. The future and well being of the person obeying the orders is involved in this. The person issuing orders has no self-interest in it.

Passage - The wonders of Nature

Translate the following passage in hindi.
The wonders of Nature
Nature’s bounty is boundless. If you try to list the millions of things all around you, there will be no end to it. Everything in nature is a marvel in itself. Even the simplest things which you take for granted are not really simple. For example, you have seen colorful, pretty flowers and enjoyed the sweetness of variety of tastes!
There are thousands of other things in nature’s treasure trove, which are absolutely different from what you come across in your daily life. Have you ever heard of an entire range of high hills smoking fumes in the air for years together? Or about a city in England having received frog rain? Or of a reptile that can actually walk on water?
There are many such unusual facts about your natural surroundings which, when brought to light, surprise you and trigger your curiosity to know more. For instance, even a child knows about an elephant, but how many of you know that an elephant’s trunk comprises of more than forty thousand muscles? Such intriguing facts make the study of nature interesting.

A reasonable amount of confidence in one’s own powers is necessary for success. Thus we can say that talent never goes waste, but it should be directed in the appropriate direction. Sometimes a great deal of talent is lost in the world for want of a little courage.

Passage - Book Reading

Translate the following passage in hindi.
Book Reading
It is said that Reading makes a full man. Read not to contradict and confuse, nor to believe and take for granted, nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider. Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested, that is some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read but not curiously, and some to be read wholly and with diligence and action. Some books also may be read by deputy, and extracts made of them by others, but that would be only in the less important arguments and meaner sort of  books, else distilled books are like common distilled waters, flashy things.
A man who develops the habit of reading books is always happy because books are the source of enjoyment, inspiration and instruction. In the company of books nobody feels lonely. He always has pleasant occupation of  leisure moments. This is a possession more precious than gold. It is because of this that Ruskin calls books ‘King’s Treasures’. Treasures filled not with gold and silver but with knowledge, noble thoughts and ideas. It has rightly been said, “Good books are like fast friends.” Those who do not read books are really poor, because they possess only the worldly wealth but not the wealth of knowledge. However, it is important that one should acquire the habit of reading at a young age.

All your hair is grey, your hands are wrinkled, you wear spectacles and you work so much in the kitchen........”
For a good cause if you are determined, you can overcome any obstacle. I will work harder than anybody but I will do it. For learning there is no age bar.”
I started my coaching. Avva was a wonderful student. The amount of  homework and classwork  she did was amazing. She would read, write and recite. I was her first Teacher and She was my first Student.

His father smiled but didn’t tell him anything more and a while he went inside his room. He came back with an old tattered diary which he used to write since his son was born. He opened  a page and told his son to read that page.
His son read in the diary his father had written :“Today my young son aged ninenteen was sitting with me in the garden. Suddenly he saw a cuckoo. It was on a mango tree. My son asked me twelfth times what it was. I replied and replied him all the times that it was a cuckoo.
