Slow but steady wins the race

    A hare and a tortoise lived in a forest. The hare was very proud of his fast speed. He used to laugh at the tortoise for his slow speed. The tortoise could not bear this. One day he challenged the hare to run a race with him. The hare agreed. They fixed a goal.

    Next morning the race began. The hare ran very fast. The tortoise went slowly after him. He was left far behind. On the way there was a shady tree. The hare ran very fast. The hare said to himself, “The tortoise is far behind. I can take rest for some time under this tree.” So he lay down and was soon fast asleep.

    The tortoise moved on slowly. He did not take rest. He reached the goal. After some time the hare woke up. He ran very fast. He reached the goal. There he saw the tortoise. The proud hare had to feel small.
