An article on Balanced Diet




What is Balanced Diet ?

“A Balanced Diet” simply means a good food. A Balanced Diet or a good food is one which gives us energy and helps in our growth. It should make our tired body fresh. All sweets, pakodas, and soft drinks are not Balanced Diet or good foods. Instead they put our health to risk.

Food is made up of many things like fat, starch, sugar, proteins, salts and water. Fat, starch, and sugar give us energy. Proteins build our body. Salt makes our bones strong. We also need them for growth and repair our body. Food like rice, wheat, maize, and potatoes have starch. Ghee, and oil have fat. Milk, cheese, wheat, eggs, pulses, etc have proteins. Food also contains vitamins. They are many and found in different foods. Vitamins are very good for the body. A Balanced Diet should have all these things, means fats, starch, sugar, proteins, carbohydrate, minerals, fibre, salts and vitamins etc.

To get all these things we should eat grains and pulses, vegetables and fruits, ghee and oils, milk and cheese etc. Always remember that too much food can make us sick. Eat so much as you need, and chew it well. We should eat to live not live to eat.
